As a LNG financial trader you will trade the financial exposures of the LNG portfolio within pre-defined risk framework; working with physical teams to identify opportunities, monetise flexibility and risk-manage positions. You will be responsible for the execution and oversight of all financial / derivative requirements across the growing physical LNG portfolio.

What You’ll Do

As a LNG Financial Trader you will understands the LNG markets, providing accurate and live quotes, able to advise on liquidity, execution strategies and timing (intra-day through to seasonal) including providing pricing & formula reviews and working with analysts and teams (e.g. Digital) to develop pricing tools. You will also:

• Executes financial orders & hedging needs for the LNG (Physical) Trading team across all assets/indices including European Gas (e.g. TTF, NBP, PEG, Zee), US gas (e.g. HH), Oil (e.g. Brent, JCC), Financial LNG (e.g. JKM, NWE, W India) and freight (FFAs).

• Work with the physical teams (LNG Trading and LNG Structured Trading/Origination) to assist in developing and implementing trading strategies (and testing thereof), hedging and position-management, complex structures (e.g. optionality), new deals and joint value-creation opportunities;

•Proprietary trading across assets/indices such as arb and basis diff strategies, flat price both on intraday level and mid to long term period, term structure arbitrage, volatility strategies in cross commodities framework using relative value arbitrage, momentum and options within defined risk parameters (e.g. V@R, max DD etc..); in addition to contributing towards joint P&L targets for the broader LNG team by capturing the extrinsic value of the global portfolio using strategies such as dynamic delta hedge framework

• Support enhancing deal-process and controls for all LNG financial trading activity, including financial trade bookings, validation, reconciliations, position reporting, technical accounting and hedge accounting (“HA”). Understand both the constraints and opportunities of HA framework, and anticipates HA effects of desired trades;

• Collaborates with wider trading organisation (including Gas Trading desk) to coordinate trading positions, identify synergies/overlaps, optimise Group cash/flow liquidity positions ensuring efficient deployment of resources and positions across trading desks beyond LNG.

What You’ll Bring

Your experience of physical and financial energy markets, with a focus on European Gas hubs and Oil, (ideally also power, coal, emissions) is key for success. You will have previous experience in financial trading and execution, effective position tracking, tracking market dynamics and trends. You will also have:

• Experience in options trading across gas and oil markets valuing, trading and managing subsequent positions.

• OTC and broker execution experience.

• Understand contractual terms and flexibilities, developing strategies to risk-manage and monetise these flexibilities via financial instruments

• Good knowledge of systems, process, controls and best practice experience in a derivative trading environment.

• Experience of communicating with Traders, Originators and Analysts (e.g. daily calls) to understand physical market conditions, value and trends and feeds into forward strategy and add value to the integrated LNG PnL.
