The Entity Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of external and parent company reporting requirements for several of the SM&T Group’s legal entities. This position is primarily focused on preparing monthly and annual financial reports, while also overseeing key control activities to support this reporting. Responsibilities include performing Balance Sheet integrity checks and ensuring accurate reporting for each assigned legal entity. Additionally, the Entity Controller will ensure all accounts are reconciled and substantiated, provide assurance to end users that control processes are complete, and conduct intra-month checks to verify that activities are properly recorded in the legal entities’ books and records.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This role involves critical review and analysis of global subsidiary financial reporting to support the group control function, assisting auditors during quarterly reviews and the annual audit, and driving the standardisation and improvement of legal entity control processes globally to ensure consistent reporting.

  • For specific entities, responsible for Monthly Financial Reporting including Parent company reporting through the SAP-FC consolidation system as well as other ad hoc requirements.
  • For specific entities, Financial Control and Reconciliation of key balance sheet General Ledger balances in SAP ERP and substantiation of these balances.
  • For specific entities, ownership over monthly preparation key financial data and business commentary, specifically for balance sheet results at entity level, and presentation across senior groups within finance.
  • Support the preparation of Annual Financial Statements for specified legal entities.
  • As part of the month-end SAP ERP close, support the review of intercompany eliminations and supporting other team members in the wider Trading Accounting Function to resolve issues.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

This role requires a solid understanding of business processes and controls with the ability to analyse and identify improvements. It emphasises a strong desire for professional growth, a willingness to share expertise, and the ability to develop others, complemented by excellent project management skills.

  • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting and reporting and core financial accounting control principles.
  • Exposure to the accounting and/or controlling function in a large or medium sized multinational business, either in practice or industry.
  • Experience of a commodities or trading business would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working in an international organisation with an overseas parent company would be an advantage.
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant, with experience post qualification.
