We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our team in Manchester, where you'll play a pivotal role in transforming our data landscape.

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our team in Manchester, where you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming our data landscape. You’ll partner with a variety stakeholders across the business, alongside our Data Workstream Lead, to champion our data strategy and governance. Be at the heart of a major IT transformation programme, supporting strategies for data migration, testing, and training. You’ll also drive improvements in procedures, processes and systems to strengthen controls around data quality and management.

This exciting role calls for a strong technical background and proven experience in managing data for large-scale IT implementations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

Data Governance

  • Support data governance frameworks to ensure data is accurate and secure across our landscape
  • Support the delivery of a data governance that ensures data accountability and responsibility
  • Collaborate with the business to develop and establish robust data rules

Data Harmonization, Reporting & Documentation

  • Support the data harmonization strategy and support the Data Workstream Lead and Data Architect in the creation and ownership of the data model
  • Drive and support the programme on initiatives to improve data collection, data quality, reporting and insight to action
  • Create a comprehensive catalogue to help the wider business understand the data model, including where data is stored, its sources, and refresh schedules.

Data Quality

  • Develop and review data quality rules including business requirement gathering
  • Support the development of data quality and data management processes and procedures
  • Facilitate the creation of new reporting infrastructure to evaluate data quality and utilisation across major project systems, delivering valuable insights to management and stakeholders about our data landscape
  • Support the updating of data, through identification based on data quality rules, requirements, bulk uploads and other methods
  • Conduct regular data audits to resolve data quality issues
  • Perform root cause analysis on actions that degrade our data quality
  • Creating and maintaining quality documentation

Test and Training 

  • Requirement gathering for Test and Training data
  • Catalogue and understand the data, including master data management, data source and relationships
  • Manage the data, ensuring that requirements are met and the data generation is of the correct quality and quantity
  • Work with the Testing and Training teams to ensure data is accessible, delivered and refreshed in line with the delivery plan.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst, with demonstrable experience in data management and data analysis, especially within large multinational organizations.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and large IT transformation programmes.
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of IT systems, including MS Dynamics and Salesforce, and their relationships with critical systems across the enterprise
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Experience supporting the creation and implementation of data governance and data quality
  • Experience of re-engineering business processes from a data perspective
  • Experience in the management and delivery of test and training data
  • Substantial previous experience in a similar or supportive role within the energy industry would be an advantage
