An exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Business Analyst to join our Digital Trading function in London

Based in our London office, the Trading Business Analyst will play a vital role within the Digital Trading vertical, working closely with the Digital Trading desk to enhance our algorithmic and systematic trading portfolio. The successful candidate will collaborate with Senior Traders and Developers to help them achieve their commercial goals while building a robust platform to support the development of algorithmic trading solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Work autonomously and within a team to deliver technology enabled business change to support the Digital Trading vertical.
  • Work with a variety of key stakeholders to assess, shape and deliver:
    • Tactical and/or strategic developments and business change
    • Small business change and BAU tasks
    • Resolution of operational issues in collaboration with Application Support and External Vendors
  • Work with a dedicated project team, including Project Managers, Architects and Developers to maintain, enhance and grow the existing systems capability.
  • Consult with key business stakeholders to understand processes, develop the business case, document requirements, develop specifications and acceptance criteria. Ensure processes are well documented.
  • Oversee the material change process to ensure all changes are implemented according to established protocols. Provide support to the technical team and traders in testing changes, ensuring solutions meet compliance standards, mitigate operational risks, and do not compromise business-critical controls.
  • Jointly develop business readiness plans prior to implementation.
  • Provide user training and ensure user guides are written and updated.
  • Initiate post-implementation reviews to monitor product effectiveness and performance.
  • Perform quantitative analysis: Utilise data analysis techniques to provide solutions for monitoring and analysing performance of trading strategies and associated trading processes, such as real-time PNL capture and reconciliation.
  • Stay updated on market trends and regulations: Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in algorithmic trading to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Generate reports and provide insights: Prepare reports and summarising trading activities, performance metrics, and actionable insights for traders and senior management.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Proven knowledge and experience in Energy Trading arena (ideally Gas and Power trading, although LNG Trading would also be of interest).
  • Previous experience of electronic trading, real time position monitoring and PNL reconciliation is highly desirable
  • Demonstrable Business Analysis experience in a trading environment ideally an energy (or commodity) trading company or consultancy (ideally European markets or global perspective)
  • Experience of specifying and writing user specifications and business requirements for algorithmic trading and/or quant development teams is essential.
  • Experience of requirement elicitation techniques. Such as facilitating workshops. Interviews, Prototyping and Document Analysis.
  • Experience of working with iterative development methodologies such as Agile
  • Demonstrable experience of coordinating complex projects/initiatives
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering energy trading or energy supplier software.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has a strong understanding of complex business issues to specify IT solutions. They possess a continuous improvement mindset, a background in data, and the ability to communicate technical concepts fluently with key stakeholders.
