We are looking for an Application Support Engineer to join our evolving IT function in Manchester. Join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our application landscape. We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide customer focused 1st and 2nd line support, manage incidents, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Application Support:
    • Provide 1st and 2nd line application support, managing incidents and escalations through to resolution.
    • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, internal and/or 3rd party support teams.
    • Apply problem-solving skills to recreate, debug, identify, and resolve issues.
    • Perform root cause analysis of issues to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Proactive Support & Maintenance:
    • Create, review, and maintain support documentation for deploying and configuring applications.
    • Monitor, test, and deploy application updates & patches.
    • Develop and demonstrate an understanding of systems within the application landscape.
  • Project Support:
    • Support internal projects with technical design reviews and environment builds/deployment.

As part of this role, you will be required to form part of the on-call rota to respond to out-of-hours critical incidents.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Experience managing Windows Server, IIS & Active Directory Services
    • Azure AD (EntraID) experience would be beneficial
    • Azure IaaS / PaaS experience would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of T-SQL (MS SQL) and/or PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of minor programming or scripting (.NET / PowerShell)
  • Experience using an IT Service Management Tool (e.g. SCSM)
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable
  • An understanding IT service management processes (e.g. ITIL) would be desirable
  • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics (2012AX and 365) would be desirable
  • Experience of Office365 administration would be desirable
  • Experience of software deployment processes/systems would be desirable
